Sun Star Installation Instructions

Step 1 -

Check if the shipment is complete and the measurements are correct
Report any discrepancies immediately

Step 2 -

Installation of the side base plates:
Drill holes at intervals of no more than 24" in the side base plates.

The base plates must be at a right angle to the top of the glass roof or skylight system.

Screw through mounting holes in the base plates. Apply caulking around the holes. Secure the base plates.
(Screws and caulking material for securing the base plates are not included in the kit)

Step 3 -

Installation of the housing and the guide rails:

Put the housing and guide rails on the base plates.

Note: If the housing is too close to the soffit, remove the securing screws of the housing cover.

Slide the guide rails on the horns of the housing end caps to connect the two (drill small holes).

Screw the guide rails to the housing end cap horns.

When installing shutter side by side, the guide rails must be fastened in the middle of the base plate.

Secure the first guide rail to its base plate.

Check if the guide rails are at right angles to the housing. Take diagonal measurements from corner to corner to make sure it is square.

Step 4 -

Installation of the Glide Profiles and the Bottom Stop Sills:

Push the glide profiles up to the teflon half cradles fixed in the housing.

Pre-drill the middle base plate and affix glide profile.

Fasten the bottom stop sill to the guide rails.

The guide rails have to be at a right angle to the housing and parallel to each other.

When installing side by side shutters, the second guide rail has to be fixed in the middle of the shared base plate and follow Step 5. Otherwise, go to Step 6.

Step 5 -

Installation of shutters side by side:

If you are installing shutters side by side, this step is important, otherwise, please go to step 6.

Install guide rails and housing of the next shutter.

When installing a shutter side by side, the second guide rail has to be fixed in the middle of the shared base plate.

Affix the first guide rail of the next shutter.

From here, for the next shutter, please follow "step 3"

Step 6 -

Adjust the motor and install stabilizer strut(s):

Remove the housing cover.

Connect the power and check the function of the motor.
Adjust the stopping position and the torque.

Please refer to "adjusting the motor"

Re-install the housing cover .

Install each stabilizer strut with the felt down.

Align and center them directly over the gliding profile and well up off the curtain.

Connect the stabilizer strut(s) to the bottom stop sill using the spacer and screw provided.

Adjusting the Motor:

1) Adjusting the stopping positions:

Downward: Extend the rolling shutter. Push the adjusting button for the turning direction of the tube as far as it will go and let go when the bottom position is reached. If the bottom position has to be corrected, drive the rolling shutter in the desired position and switch it off. Push the adjusting button for the turning position "Down" as far as it will go and check the lower position.

Upward: Retract the rolling shutter. Push the adjusting button for the turning direction of the tube "up" as far as it will go and let go when it reaches the upper position. If the upper position has to be corrected, drive the rolling shutter in the desired position and switch it off. Push the adjusting button for the turning position "up" as far as it will go and check the upper position.

Please Note: The end slat must still be engaged in the guide rails when it stops at the top.

Important when adjusting later!

Press only the button for the turning direction of the tube you want to correct. If you also press the other button by mistake, then re-adjust it all over again immediately.

2) Adjusting the torque:

Downward: Screw the torque adjusting screw (same color as the adjusting button "down") in as far as necessary, until the rolling shutter curtain can be fully extended.

Upward: Screw the torque adjusting screw (same color as the adjusting button "up") in as far as necessary, until the rolling shutter curtain is completely up.

Note:
The motor is equipped with a permanent overheating protection. If the motor heats up it only switches on again after the usual cooling down phase and when the switch is put to 0 for at least 20 seconds.
